Alor Setar: Gerai air tebu Abang Bomba di Pokok Sena mendapat sambutan ramai, Ramadan ini berikutan cuaca panas ketika ini.
Air tebu hasil tanaman di kawasan tanah seluas lebih 1.2 hektar di belakang Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat (BBP) Pokok Sena itu diusahakan semula sejak lapan bulan lalu.
Anggota BBP Pokok Sena, Mohd Amirul Asyaraf Awang, 30, berkata, dia bersama rakan-rakan sepasukannya mengusahakan tanaman tebu itu sejak setahun lalu dan sudah pun merasai hasil pertama, tahun lalu.
“Kami bergilir-gilir menjaga tanaman tebu ini jika tiada operasi atau pada waktu lapang untuk membersihkan pokok serta daun mati malah penjagaan tebu tidak serumit pokok lain.
“Selepas memotong batang tebu, kami akan mesin airnya menggunakan dua mesin tebu dengan bantuan tiga orang pekerja bagi mengendalikan penjualan air tebu.
“Tahun ini nampaknya sambutan hangat apabila kira-kira 500 kilogram tebu yang mampu menghasilkan hampir 50 jag habis dijual berbanding hanya 200 kilogram sahaja yang dijual tahun lalu,” katanya ketika ditemui di BBP Pokok Sena, hari ini.
Sementara itu, Ketua Balai Bomba dan Penyelamat (BBP) Pokok Sena, Pegawai Bomba Tinggi Bakar Saad berkata, selain tanaman tebu, anggotanya juga turut menanam pelbagai jenis pisang, ulam-ulaman serta tanaman hidroponik di kawasan belakang balai berkenaan.
“Segala tanaman yang dilakukan sudah membuahkan hasil dan turut dijual untuk orang luar.
“Hasil jualan itu kemudian dimasukkan ke dalam tabung balai untuk kegunaan mereka bagi melakukan sebarang aktiviti di sini,” katanya.
Bakar berkata, aktiviti pertanian itu turut mendapati sokongan daripada Jabatan Pertanian Negeri Kedah dan anggotanya melakukan aktiviti tanaman itu ketika waktu lapang.
