KUALA LUMPUR – Ahli Parlimen Muar, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman dijatuhi hukuman penjara tujuh tahun, dua sebatan dan denda RM10 juta oleh Mahkamah Tinggi, di sini hari ini atas empat pertuduhan iaitu bersubahat pecah amanah, salah guna harta dan pengubahan wang haram (AMLA).
Hakim Datuk Azhar Abdul Hamid menjatuhkan hukuman itu selepas mendapati Syed Saddiq, 30, bersalah terhadap keempat-empat pertuduhan.
Berdasarkan laporan Kosmo, pihak pembelaan yang mewakili bekas Menteri Belia dan Sukan itu gagal menimbulkan keraguan munasabah pada kes pendakwaan berkenaan.
“Permohonan untuk penangguhan hukuman dibenarkan dan syarat-syarat jaminan dikekalkan,” katanya.
Mengikut pertuduhan pertama, Syed Saddiq didakwa bersubahat dengan Rafiq Hakim Razali yang diamanahkan dana RM1 juta, untuk melakukan pecah amanah dengan menyalahgunakan wang tersebut.
Kesalahan dilakukan di CIMB Bank Berhad, Menara CIMB KL Sentral di sini pada 6 Mac 2020 mengikut Seksyen 406 Kanun Keseksaan yang membawa hukuman penjara maksimum 10 tahun dengan sebatan serta denda.
Pertuduhan kedua, Syed Saddiq didakwa atas menyalahgunakan RM120,000 daripada akaun Maybank Islamic Berhad milik Armada Bumi Bersatu Enterprise, untuk diri sendiri dengan menyebabkan Rafiq Hakim melupuskan wang itu di Malayan Banking Berhad, Taman Pandan Jaya, di sini pada 8 dan 21 April 2018.
Bagi kesalahan itu, Syed Saddiq didakwa mengikut Seksyen 403 Kanun Keseksaan yang membawa hukuman penjara maksimum lima tahun dengan sebatan dan denda.
Menurut Kosmo, bagi pertuduhan ketiga dan keempat Syed Saddiq didakwa memindahkan wang masing-masing RM50,000 dalam akaun Maybank Islamic Berhad miliknya ke akaun Amanah Saham Bumiputera miliknya, dipercayai hasil aktiviti haram di sebuah bank di Taman Perling, Johor Bahru pada 16 dan 19 Jun 2018.
Pertuduhan dibuat mengikut Seksyen 4(1)(b) Akta Pencegahan Pengubahan Wang Haram, Pencegahan Pembiayaan Keganasan dan Hasil Daripada Aktiviti Haram 2001.
Seksyen itu memperuntukkan hukuman penjara sehingga 15 tahun dan denda lima kali ganda jumlah atau hasil aktiviti haram, jika sabit kesalahan.
