London: Pekerja Amazon di United Kingdom (UK) akan melancarkan mogok pada Black Friday ekoran pertikaian mengenai isu gaji yang masih belum selesai, lapor Agensi Berita Jerman (dpa).
Black Friday merujuk kepada jualan tahunan besar-besaran.
Mogok dan tunjuk perasaan juga diadakan di negara-negara Eropah dan Amerika Syarikat.
GMB memaklumkan lebih 1,000 pekerja di tapak Coventry akan menyertai mogok
Protes juga akan diadakan di luar ibu pejabat Amazon di UK, London.
“Hari ini akan menjadi titik perubahan dalam sejarah Amazon. Pekerja Amazon menuntut bahagian mereka daripada kekayaan sangat besar yang dimiliki syarikat itu.
“Walaupun begitu, pihak majikan mendakwa keadaan seperti biasa di Amazon dan pelanggan mereka ketika Black Friday ini.
“Kebenarannya ialah hari ini akan menyaksikan hari terbesar gangguan perindustrian dalam sejarah Amazon,” kata Pegawai GMB Amanda Gearing.
Sementara itu, jurucakap Amazon menjelaskan bahawa tidak akan ada gangguan kepada pelanggannya.
“Kami sentiasa menyemak tangga gaji untuk memastikan kami menawarkan gaji dan faedah yang kompetitif. Menjelang April 2024, permulaan gaji minimum meningkat kepada £12.30 (US$15.41) dan £13 setiap jam bergantung pada lokasi, iaitu peningkatan 20 peratus dalam tempoh dua tahun dan 50 peratus sejak 2018.
“Kami juga bekerja keras untuk memberikan faedah yang besar, persekitaran kerja kondusif dan peluang kerjaya yang cemerlang,” menurut Amazon.
Amazon berkata kadar gajinya jauh melebihi kadar yang ditetapkan manakala faedah, termasuk insurans perubatan swasta, insurans nyawa, subsidi makanan dan diskaun pekerja turut diberikan.
