Bukan Kawah Bawah Laut, Itu Beting Pasir Ribut Di Pantai Batu Burok

KUALA TERENGGANU – Pantai Batu Burok, di sini, yang mengorbankan seorang ahli perniagaan pada Isnin lalu tidak mempunyai kawah dalam laut atau ‘Seabed Crater’ seperti ditularkan sesetengah pihak di media sosial, baru-baru ini.

Sebaliknya, beberapa ‘lubang’ yang terbentuk di sekitar pantai peranginan tersebut disebabkan beting pasir ribut.

Timbalan Pengarah Institut Oseanografi dan Sekitaran Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT), Prof. Madya Dr. Effi Helmy Ariffin berkata, berdasarkan kajiannya, dasar Pantai Batu Burok memiliki banyak beting pasir yang terbentuk akibat ribut terutama sewaktu tempoh Monsun Timur Laut (MTL).

“Ribut terbabit menyebabkan hakisan pantai sekali gus menghanyutkan banyak pasir pantai ke dalam laut lalu mewujudkan beting pasir ribut.

“Kesannya kawasan yang tidak mempunyai beting pasir menjadi lebih dalam namun ia bukanlah seabed crater
(kawah dalam laut),” katanya, di sini hari ini .

Effi Helmy berkata, himpitan dua atau lebih beting pasir ribut boleh membentuk kawasan ‘lubang’ di dasar laut sedalam sehingga enam meter seperti terdapat di Pantai Batu Burok.

Sebaliknya, beliau menjelaskan kawah dalam laut pula terbentuk daripada impak disebabkan aktiviti gunung berapi, runtuhan, aliran lumpur dasar laut atau angkasa.

“Tidak dinafikan juga kawah dalam laut boleh terbentuk oleh pusaran air yang kuat tetapi ia jarang berlaku di negara ini kerana suhu air laut dan udara kita tidak jauh beza sekaligus jarang menyebabkan pusaran di kawasan pantai seperti puting beliung di darat,” katanya.

Sehubungan itu, Effi Helmy menegaskan penularan gambar ilustrasi kawah dalam laut kononnya terdapat di dasar Pantai Batu Buruk adalah kurang tepat dan boleh mengelirukan masyarakat. – KOSMO! ONLINE
