GENEVA, Switzerland – Perang antara tentera Israel dan Hamas di Semenanjung Gaza mewujudkan sebanyak 37 juta tan serpihan termasuk sejumlah bom tidak meletup yang mengambil masa lebih sedekad untuk dibersihkan, kata seorang pegawai kanan Pertubuhan Bangsa-Bangsa Bersatu (PBB) seperti laporan akhbar The Guardian kelmarin.
Bekas ketua Perkhidmatan Tindakan Periuk Api PBB, Pehr Lodhammar berkata, hampir tujuh bulan selepas perang Gaza tercetus pada 7 Oktober tahun lalu, terdapat purata 300 kilogram runtuhan untuk kawasan seluas satu meter persegi di wilayah Palestin itu.
“Berdasarkan (jumlah) serpihan semasa di Gaza, jika mengambil kira 100 buah lori, kami bercakap (ia mengambil masa untuk membersihkan serpihan) selama 14 tahun untuk membersihkannya.
“Berikutan perang masih berlanjutan, adalah mustahil untuk menganggarkan tempoh masa sebenar yang diperlukan untuk melakukan kerja-kerja pembersihan,” katanya kepada pemberita di Geneva.
Israel dituduh memusnahkan sebahagian besar tempat tinggal penduduk Palestin dalam tindakan disebut sebagai domisid berikutan kempen pengebomannya di Semenanjung Gaza. Serangan Rejim Zionis menyebabkan sebahagian besar Gaza dipenuhi runtuhan bangunan.
Lodhammar berkata, sebanyak 65 peratus daripada bangunan yang musnah di Semenanjung Gaza adalah kediaman penduduk awam.
Kerja pembersihan dan membina semula Gaza akan menjadi perlahan dan berbahaya kerana ancaman peluru, peluru berpandu atau senjata lain yang tertimbus di dalam bangunan yang runtuh atau rosak.
Menurut Lodhammar, secara purata, kira-kira 10 peratus daripada bom dan senjata itu gagal meletup selepas ditembak dan perlu dikeluarkan oleh pasukan pembersih serpihan.
“Senjata yang tidak meletup dan tertimbus di dalam runtuhan akan merumitkan kerja pembersihan,” kata Lodhammar yang pernah mengetuai program pembersihan periuk api di beberapa buah negara seperti Iraq.
Katanya, adalah mustahil untuk menyatakan berapa banyak peluru yang tertimbus di Gaza tetapi masih lagi hidup.
“Kami tahu bahawa biasanya terdapat kadar kegagalan sekurang-kurangnya 10 peratus daripada peluru artileri darat,” katanya.
Bandar paling selatan di Semenanjung Gaza, Rafah kini menjadi tempat berlindung lebih separuh daripada 2.4 juta penduduk Palestin dengan kebanyakan mereka menjadi pelarian di tanah air sendiri akibat serangan tentera Israel.
Serangan tentera Israel memberi kesan malapetaka bukan sahaja kepada orang awam Palestin tetapi juga keamanan dan keselamatan serantau, kata Presiden Mesir, Abdel Fatah al-Sisi pada minggu ini.
Kaherah sebelum ini berkata, serangan tentera Israel ke atas Rafah, jika berlaku, melanggar perjanjian damai dengan Mesir yang dimeterai sejak beberapa dekad lalu.
Bagaimanapun, kata pemimpin-pemimpin Israel, empat batalion Hamas berlindung dalam kalangan orang awam di Rafah dan mereka mesti dihapuskan.
Sementara itu, sebilangan besar askar, sejumlah kereta kebal dan kenderaan perisai tentera Rejim Zionis telah berkumpul di selatan Israel sebagai persiapan jelas untuk melakukan serangan darat di Rafah.
Sepanjang tempoh praserangan, tentera Rejim Zionis turut meningkatkan pengeboman ke atas bandar Rafah.
Serangan tentera Israel sejak Oktober tahun lalu menyebabkan lebih 34,000 rakyat Palestin terkorban, majoriti mereka ialah wanita dan kanak-kanak, demikian menurut pihak berkuasa kesihatan Gaza.
Israel melancarkan perang sebagai tindak balas kepada serangan 7 Oktober tahun lalu apabila pejuang Hamas menyusup masuk ke selatan Israel dan didakwa membunuh kira-kira 1,200 orang serta menawan 250 tebusan. – AGENSI
